My good friend Krista was visiting CT with her kids for the Thanksgiving holiday. Joining Abigail & Preston are their equally sweet cousins, Bryan Jr & Hunter. We started our session off in the stream in their back yard and then went over to the elementary school by their house. There was an awesome map of the United States painted on the pavement at the playground that I just loved! Also, I just love the last picture of Krista comforting Preston. It is not your average smiling face photo, but I think it is one where you can "feel the love." Enjoy!

Fusion Cover Press book

I saw a sample of this "fusion" cover press book at a photography conference, and I knew this was something I wanted to offer to my clients. This is a 10" x 8" lay flat press book, with a linen binding. The cover is printed with the photo and the pages have a pearl matte finish. In my opinion, albums & press books are a great way to showcase & preserve your photos for generations to come. Personally I love looking through photo albums, so my goal is to create a classic & timeless book that will last forever. Here are a few images of my latest sample press book, hot off the press!

The greatest gift

My parents hate having their photo taken, and they have passed this trait down to me. Most photographers prefer to be behind the camera, most people I meet hate to be in front of the camera, it is a pretty universal feeling. However, what I love more than anything are my photos, the ones of my grandparents, or my mom as a little girl at the beach. The pictures that tell the story of a time & a place I have never been... I love those. They aren't professional photos, they aren't staged or posed, they are cherished memories.

Last year at a photography conference, I listened to David Williams speak about the importance of family photos, there wasn't a dry eye in the room. I left the conference determined to get my own family portrait because after thinking about it... I didn't have one.

This was the only professional family photo I could think of; it is about 30 years old, no parents, my how we have grown. This is the photo that stayed on my father's dresser for 30 years. I love my brother Joe's plaid jacket, classic.

There was one professional family photo taken, I almost forgot. This is the most anti-Squillacote picture of all time. My family will probably kill me for posting this on the internet, I am thinking of sending it in to the akward family photo website. There is so much awesomeness in this photo, I don't know where to begin.

These are the outdated photos that are still on my dad's dresser. Really??? No really, a 20 year old picture of me in an ugly blue bridesmaids dress. My brother's senior high school photos, also 20 years old. I think it is time for some new pictures...

This past summer, I passed my camera off to my friend, and we did the family photo.

For everyone who thinks their family is the worst behaved, crazy clients, you're not, my family takes the cake. Despite our craziness, our squinty eyes, and our inability to all look at the camera and smile, we managed to get a few keepers. For me, this Christmas, my favorite gift, is my family, and our "first" family portrait.

I met up with Emma & John at one of their favorite spots, Ashlawn Farm in Lyme, CT. Karen & Bob - The Glen House at Sunday River

Karen & Bob were married on a "crisp" fall day at the Glen House at Sunday River in Maine. The setting was spectacular, and despite the cool temperature and strong winds, these two celebrated surrounded by friends & family. The ceremony was held at the first hole of the Sunday River golf course, and was followed by a rockin reception back at the Glen House. There are so many great ways to showcase your photos besides hanging them on a wall! Here are a few examples of different products that I have made in the past. I love graphic design, so I can easily say, I really love making albums and custom designed stationary ( announcements, invitations, holiday cards, etc...)

These first four photos are a Finao flush mount album. This one happens to be a guest book, the pages on the left are blank so guests can sign them. Finao albums come in all shapes & sizes, and have a variety of cover materials to choose from.

A less expensive option than the flush mounted album is a press printed book/album. This one is a "Baby's First Year," that I made especially for my nephew. Each spread is a different month, I knew I wanted to document his first year by taking pictures of him every month. I LOVE the way this album came out. The cover is Red Letter and has a foil stamp name imprinted on the cover. There are so many ways to customize each book, and once again these books can be made in a variety of cover materials.

I saw these at a photography conference and had to order some!

Last but not least, I recently had a marketing set done by Madilu Designs (www.madiludesigns.com) Kim designed a new logo for me, as well as a few different products, one of which is a gift certificate. It is always a pleasure when my friend Krista makes it up to CT for a visit. This was my first time meeting her newest little guy, Preston. He is such a cute little peanut. I couldn't believe how little (or strong) this little guy is! I love summertime & I love the beach. One of the reasons I love this time of year so much is because it is when I get to spend some quality time with my relatives. I couldn't wait for my cousin Aimee to come down to the beach for a few days with Lucy, one of the newest additions to the family. Here is the super cute Lucy who looks so much like Aimee , but also a lot like her daddy too! A special cameo from my dear Aunt Claire whose deck we used to gather on, and after the perfect summer day would say, "This a memory day!" hence the name, Memory Days. Fast forward years later I have my camera in hand to capture another perfect summer {memory} day with the ones I love.

Maggie, CJ, Sammy & I met up at the beach again this year for a great photo shoot. Maggie is a natural in front of the camera, she loves having her picture taken, and has a lot of great ideas to keep me on my toes. CJ & Sammy are a little more camera shy, but it is pretty hard to tell from their photos. All three of them got some great shots on their own and together. It was such a pleasant surprise to have one of my old neighborhood elementary school friends contact me for a photo shoot for her adorable daughter Kiki. And let me just say, Kiki is adorable! We met up during the heat wave in Bushnell park in Hartford to take some pictures on the antique carousel. The carousel is closed on Mondays ( I swear I triple checked...) so we ended up doing two photo shoots. First up Bushnell park, where Kiki entertained herself with the playground & pigeons...

And then a few rides on the carousel!

Bath time & an English wedding

The main reason for my big european vacation was to see my good friend Gina get married at a castle in the English countryside. ( I know, it sounds awful!) We took the train from London and had one day in Bath, which as it's name suggests is home to an old Roman Bath. Having no idea what to expect, I was quite taken with how quaint & picturesque Bath was. We had beautiful weather, perfect for walking & exploring the old winding streets.

Ari & the royal mail. Bath actually had a postal museum we unsuccessfully attempted to go to, after Ari "lost" her wallet.

The next day we headed to beautiful Orchardleigh for the big event!

I wish I had a good picture of Gina to post. She was an absolutely GORGEOUS bride, and her dress was stunning! The few pictures I do have here, were taken with my little point & shoot. I put the big camera away & enjoyed the day!

The wedding was a blast - hence I was having way too much fun to take pictures, but I did snap a few of the fireworks after dinner. This was a fairy tale wedding I will not soon forget. Congratulations again to Gina & Will, so glad I could be there!
